The father of one of the 12 boys rescued from the cave in Thailand says all of them, and their coach, will enter the monkhood.

He says they’ll do it as a way to pay tribute to the Thai Navy SEAL who died while diving to place essential supplies along the rescue route.

Becoming a monk at a temple for at least a short period is a way of making amends in Thai Buddhist tradition.

The father also says his son told him they were only meant to be in the cave about an hour and had not realized the rain had started overhead.

That rain caused flooding that blocked them from getting out.
