Teen Arrested in Gang Related Rogers Stabbing

ROGERS, Ark. -- A teenager has been arrested for a Monday stabbing that police say is gang-related.

The 17-year-old, who is not identified because he is a minor, is being held at the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree battery and second-degree battery and engaging in a continuing criminal gang, organization or enterprise, according to a news release issued by Keith Foster of the Rogers Police Department.

Rogers police responded to 3705 Murdock Lane regarding a 21-year-old man who had been stabbed in the upper-right chest. The victim was identified as Tyler Garska, according to an affidavit.

Garska belongs to the 18th Street gang and the suspect belongs to 5n6 (or 5 and 6) gang, according to the affidavit.

The suspect and victim were staying in separate rooms at Regency 7 Motel, 3714 W. Walnut St., and got into a fight that involved several people, the news release states.

"During the disturbance, the juvenile stabbed the victim with a knife," the news release states. "A second person was also cut with a knife while he was fleeing with the victim."

Garka was treated at Northwest Medical Center, the news release states.
