Springfield Man Charged After Baby Suffers Fractures in Leg and Head, Prosecutors Say

A Springfield man is in jail Thursday after prosecutors say he caused multiple injuries to a 4-month-old baby.

Skyler Lewis, 23, was charged Wednesday with child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

The child abuse charge, a Class A felony, carries a possible life sentence.

Court documents say Lewis admitted to becoming frustrated while changing a 4-month-old's diaper so he bent and twisted the baby's leg.

When the baby's mother took the baby to the hospital, court documents say, the baby was diagnosed with a fractured femur, closed fracture of the skull, fractured ribs and a fractured tibia.
