Springfield Firefighters Respond to Fire at McDonald's on West Sunshine

UPDATE: Fire crews can confirm the fire began in the mulch outside the McDonald's and worked its way up the wall, into the ceiling.

A witness tells KOLR10 that they saw someone throw a cigarette into the mulch and that is what started the fire.

However, fire officials said they did not find a cigarette.

Witnesses also say the McDonald's managers were trying to put the fire out with cups of water, but fire crews cannot confirm this happened since it was before they arrived at the scene.

The fire began around 1 p.m. No one has been hurt.

 

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A fire broke out Saturday afternoon at McDonald's on West Sunshine.

According to a spokesperson from McDonald's, all employees and guests were safely evacuated. The totality of damage to the building is unknown at the moment. 

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
