SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Young boys got a chance to improve their dance skills this afternoon thanks to a free workshop hosted by Springfield Ballet.
Boys ages 7 through 12 are being taught a variety of dances, including ballet, jazz, and modern.
They also are improving their strength and conditioning.
And though the class was just an introduction, the boys will be able to take away more than just dancing
“The kids are not only learning technique, they’re learning respect, learning discipline, they’re learning values. They can take that anywhere, whether they’re a doctor or nurse, or whatever they choose to do with their life,” said Associate Artistic Director at the Springfield Ballet, Brian Norris.
Norris says the class is a way to show the community what Springfield Ballet can do but also hopes more young male dancers will join the program.
