SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Several organizations are planning protests ahead of and during President Donald Trump’s speech in Springfield Wednesday.

Tuesday, Missouri Democrats are holding a news conference in Springfield, to focus on healthcare.  The event is outside Springfield Historic City Hall, Boonville and Chestnut Expressway, at 1:30 p.m.

“If Donald Trump wants to come to town, we’re going to send a loud and clear message that he needs to stop trying to take healthcare away from Missourians,” said Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber in a news release.

Also Tuesday, the organization Faith Voices of the Ozarks is holding a news conference.  Ministers from across the city, along with the president of the Springfield NAACP will speak at 6:30 at Reed Auditorium on the Drury University campus.

In a statement, the group said; “…we want to make our vision for Springfield and America clear–Our America, Our Missouri, Our Springfield is one where we stand with our neighbors.  At a time when anger, division, intolerance, and fear have dominated the public square, we need to present a message of love, justice, and inclusion.”

It’s not the only protest of Trump and GOP policies planned.  The People’s Protest, organized by a Facebook group, boasts more than 650 people interested in attending a protest Wednesday.

Organizers say people should gather at the Teamsters Hall, 1850 E. Division before 11:30 a.m., then line Glenstone north toward Dale Street.  Mr. Trump will be delivering a speech at the Loren Cook company at 1:30.  The event is not open to the public.
