Road Rage Leaves 1 Man Shot, Killed in Joplin

UPDATE: The victim has died from his injuries at 3:02 Sunday evening.

Investigators have now ruled this case a homicide. Additional charges or amendment of charges will be considered.

The suspect is still in custody.


JOPLIN, Mo. -- A Carthage man is in critical condition after a suspected road rage incident.

The Joplin Police Department said in a press release Sunday the victim is 27-year-old David Reynolds, who was with an adult woman and young children at the time of the incident.

According to the press release, the two men came in contact while driving on I-249. Both pulled over onto the shoulder of the road where the shooting occurred outside the vehicles.

The JPD do not believe the two men knew each other before this encounter.

The suspect, 23-year-old Christopher Montz of Neosho, has been charged with 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action with a $50,000 cash only bond,
