MAYSVILLE, Mo. — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office posted about the postcard scam Monday evening.
The postcard states that you have an unclaimed reward, the photo says $100. To claim the fake reward the card tells you to call a toll-free number.
The sheriff’s office determined this card to be a scam.
These cards have only been discovered in the Maysville area, east of St. Joseph.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office advised that people should contact their sheriff’s department if anyone suspects any foul play in mail or phone messages. The sheriff’s office also recommended not to give any personal information or card numbers in situations like this.
