BRANSON, Mo.–Branson police are warning all business leaders to be on alert after two local businesses lost money to the same type of scam.

Earlier this week, a local retailer reports receiving a call from a number that appeared to be from its corporate office.

The caller stated a large number of counterfeit bills had been taken in by the store and needed to be exchanged.

An employee was instructed to read the card numbers of the daily deposit and purchase money cards to the caller.

Police are now investigating — after another business in Branson reported the same scam last year.
