Police Investigate Attempted Abduction near MSU

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Officials say a man tried to abduct a woman early Wednesday morning near the Missouri State University campus reports the Springfield News-Leader.

According to a public safety alert issued by the university, a woman was walking to her apartment in the 700 block of East Walnut Street at about 4 a.m. when she was approached by an unknown man.

The alert says the man tried to grab the woman, but she got a way and ran to the nearby Kum & Go for help.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 30s who was wearing a dark blue hoodie, black leather gloves and had a reddish-brown beard.

The alert says the incident is being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.
