Plane Crashes Into Front Yard in Georgia

MARIETTA, Ga. (CNN) - "I knew it was going to crash."

Amanda Gillette was taking an evening stroll with her son when all of a sudden she heard a noise.

"I looked back up and I saw the plane just spiraling out of control," Gillette said.

The plane fire officials say spiraled out of control and crashed right in front a two story home along Vista Wood Lane.

"From what it looks like at this point it came over from the top of the house and landed in the front yard,” Danell Boyd of Cobb County Fire Department said. "It was heading to Charlie Brown airport from Wilmington, Delaware."

Investigators believe at this point the pilot was the only one onboard the plane when it came crashing down into this neighborhood Friday night.

"I heard it, felt it, and saw the fire smoke go up," Gillette said.

She wasn't alone.

"We had seen it in the sky and it had spiraled. It just hesitated and it went down," witness Vanessa Washington said.

This witness saw the plane crash into the front yard, explode and the flames spread to the home, catching it on fire.

"That's a a lot to watch someone's house burn to the ground. That's a lot to take in," Washington said.
