Nine People Arrested on Drug Charges in Douglas Co.

AVA, Mo. - A search warrant served by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Friday, March 2nd results in the arrest of nine adults and three children being taken into DFS custody.

Sheriff Chris Degase reports the warrant was issued at a residence located south of Ava. Those arrested include 38-year-old Mitchell Levan of Ava, 25-year-old Richard McCoy of Ava, 19-year-old Michael Porter of Noble, 36-year-old Christian Gibson of Springfield, 18-year-old Katelyn Souder of Ava, 27-year-old Gloria "Nikki" Barnett of Ava, 33-year-old Courtney Strong of Springfield, 44-year-old Shawn Vanderbeck and 53-year-old Steven Yost.

Levan, McCoy, Porter, Gibson, Souder, Barnett and Strong are all being charged with Felony D Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35-grams or Less of Marijuana and Three Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Levan is also being charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

As of report time any charges against Vanderbeck and Yost were not released.
