MSU's Harper named Valley coach of the year

MOLINE, Ill--The Missouri State Lady Bears will tip off the Valley post season tournament Friday night against Loyola.

The Ramblers beat Evansville in Thursday night's play in game.

Thursday night, the Valley named Kellie Harper as its coach of the year.

This is the first time in a quarter century that a Lady Bear coach has earned that honor.

After a 1-7 start, the Lady Bears won 19 of their next 21 games.

And Missouri State went a perfect 9-0 in Valley road games for the first time in school history.

Cheryl Burnett was the last Lady Bear coach to win this honor, it was back in 1994.
