Mid-Summer Snowfall at Jordan Valley Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Do you miss winter already? Do you miss snow? Because I don't.

What if you could play in the snow on a summer day?

Well, that's exactly what some kids got to do Saturday.

They had their gloves on and were making snowmen in the middle of June.

It's part of Snowfest at Jordan Valley Park.

The parks department takes the top layer of the ice park and dumps the mountain of ice at the park for kids to play with.

Snowfest is a free family event. It also features music and art activities for kids to get creative.

"The snow angels the best," Bella Brown, a participant, said. "That you can just lay down and do this."

"You get to throw around the snow and make snowmen and do snowball fights," participant Michael Skaggs said.

Other activities at Snowfest included an ice hockey contest, information on programs for kids and adults to learn how to ice skate or play ice hockey.
