SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Springfield police are investigating an attempted rape on the Missouri State University campus.
On Thursday just after 10:30 a.m., in a women’s restroom in Cheek Hall, police say Gregory Morton grabbed an MSU employee while she was in the restroom, but she was able to escape and call for help.
MSU campus safety officers caught Morton and held him until police arrived to arrest him. Police say he’s a suspect in several other crimes.
Prosecutors have charged him with attempted rape of the first degree, burglary of the first degree, and unlawful use of a weapon.
