Man Arrested after Firing a Shot at Krispy Kreme and a Car Chase on S. Campbell

SPRINGFIELD, Mo- A man has been arrested after firing a shot into Krispy Kreme then leading officers on a chase up and down S. Campbell.

According to SPD spokeswoman Lisa Cox, police heard and responded to shots fired around 4 a.m. Friday morning. They then found a car driving north at a high rate of speed. 

The officer followed the suspect vehicle but lost sight of it until he relocated it now traveling southbound on Campbell, swerving lane to lane. It again turned and headed northbound as the officer pursued. 

Cox says, the suspect vehicle then slowed down and parked at 2429 W. Sunshine. The driver, a 20-year-old male was the only person in the car.

He was arrested for resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon and possible DWI.

It was later found that the shot had been fired through the front window of Krispy Kreme on S. Campbell. Employees were working, but no one was injured.
