KISSEE MILLS, Mo. – A dive team and at least two boats staffed with Missouri Highway Patrol marine troopers are searching for a missing 6-year-old in Beaver near Slough Hollow Road.

With the help of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and Western Taney County Fire Department, there have been at least six boats deployed to look for the missing child.

As of Wednesday (3/9/22), Sgt. Mike McClure says they have scaled back the search to a morning surface search and an afternoon surface search.

Sgt. McClure said the search was in response to another child stopping a vehicle about noon Friday to say a child had fallen in the water.

Boats used in the search on the water are equipped with scanning sonar, he said. The search started about a half-mile downstream from the U.S/. 160 bridge over Beaver Creek southeast of Kissee Mills.

The missing child’s grandmother, Marletta Hayes, says she is so grateful for the support her family has received from the community.

“Thank you so much for your prayers,” said Hayes.

Hayes says she can feel the support of the community as they help care for her family during this difficult time.

“People are very wonderful in this community,” said Hayes. “They’ve been there with open arms, and we’ve accepted it.”
