(Springfield News-Leader) -- A retired Springfield Public Schools teacher and coach who sexually abused a student in the 1990s will remain on probation despite making an error with his sex offender registration requirements.
Ronnie White, 71, was sentenced Friday to a term of probation after he pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender. White will also remain on probation in the original case where he pleaded guilty in 2016 to deviate sexual assault.
The Greene County Prosecutor's Office had asked that White be sent to prison.
White's attorney Scott Pierson argued that continued probation was appropriate since White's violation was a technical error without the intent of being deceptive...
