SEYMOUR, Mo.– Webster County Deputies, Seymour Police, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are investigating after a man was found shot to death near Peewee Crossing Road and U.S. Route 60 near Seymour Wednesday afternoon.

Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole said investigators found the gunshot wound was not self-inflicted. Sheriff Cole said the suspects initially ran away from the scene. Several people are in custody and investigators will continue to interview them to find out exactly what happened.

A man who lives near the place where the shooting happened said if something like this happened again, he would consider moving away from the area to protect his family.

Sheriff Cole said everyone deputies believe to be involved in the shooting is in custody, and there is no danger to the public.
