POLK COUNTY, Mo. — One person is deceased and a minor is injured after a vehicle accident on Missouri 32 east of Halfway on Thursday, Jan. 21.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier was heading west when it went off the right side of the road, struck a culvert, became airborne and overturned.

Sargent Mike McClure said the driver, 61-year-old Kathy Warner, was ejected in the process. Warner was pronounced dead at the scene.

The juvenile riding in the passenger seat was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.

Neither the driver or the passenger was wearing a seatbelt. MSHP said this is Troop D’s eighth fatality in 2021
