SPRINGFIELD — Its that time of year again for spring cleaning — and the library is no exception!

The Friends of the Library’s Spring Book Sale was this weekend.

The Springfield-Greene County Library cleaned out its circulation of books and handed all donations over to their support group.

Thousands of books were up for sale at the Fairgrounds this weekend, and today over 1,000 people showed up to pick through the remaining books before the sale closed.

“It’s mayhem, but it’s for a great cause, for our library system. So, we greatly appreciate everyone who has come out to shop,” said Bill Kastler, with Friends of the Library.

All the funds collected from books sales are used to support the library system and even purchase additions like the library kiosk and the Bookmobile.
