SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — We spoke with Attorney General Josh Hawley when he was in town June 29.
He says he supports the president’s zero tolerance policy as well as the executive action to build family detention centers.
“I think that is it imperative that families be kept together, but I think it’s also imperative that our law is enforced,” Hawley said. “And you know what else, Congress ought to do something about this, Congress ought to provide more funding to build more centers for families and children, Congress ought to give us more immigration judges so that we can speed this process, they ought to change the procedures to make sure that adjudications can happen more quickly and folks don’t need to be held up for this long, so they oughta do something about it.”
