SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The month of April is nationally recognized as Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention month.
And to kick off an awareness effort Springfield's Isabel's House held a pinwheel garden event all across town.
Local kids and staff planted hundreds of blue pinwheels in several locations across Springfield this afternoon.
Each pinwheel represents children who received care at Isabel's House last year which is a local crisis center for kids.
The annual tradition is apart of a collaborative effort called go blue in southwest Missouri.
The non-profit will also be planting pinwheels at two businesses tomorrow.
