INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — After a miraculous eight-month journey, an Independence police officer is finally back in good health.
Officer Thomas Wagstaff was shot in the head last summer during a robbery chase.
After coming close to death, Wagstaff was moved to a grueling physical therapy rehab center.
Last night Wagstaff and his family were honored for their sacrifice.
He was also awarded a Distinguished Service Medal and a Purple Heart.
