SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Grant Beach Pool will remain closed through at least June 6 due to mechanical issues.
The operation's staff said the pool's main filter pump stopped working on Wednesday, May 30. A new pump was delivered and successfully installed on Friday, June 1 and appeared to be working normally throughout the day.
During a routine pool check Saturday morning, staff discovered that the new pump has also stopped working due to a defective motor. A second replacement pump is now on order.
After the new pump is installed, the pool chemistry must be brought back to normal before it can reopen. This process takes anywhere from 24-48 hours.
The earliest the pool could reopen is now Thursday, June 7.
