CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — A sensational murder case in the Ozarks will get fresh national attention this week, when Gypsy Rose Blanchard is interviewed on the Dr. Phil Show.

The show is promoting the 2-part interview on its YouTube channel.  The shows will air today –  November 21 and Wednesday, the 22nd.

It describes the interview as:
“In an exclusive interview with Dr. Phil, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, an alleged victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy who pled guilty to the second degree stabbing murder of her mother, shares her story.”

In July, 2016, Gypsy Blanchard pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder in the killing of her mother, Clauddinea “Dee Dee” Blanchard.   The plea agreement with prosecutors called for a 10 year prison sentence.

Blanchard was charged for allegedly helping Nicholas Godejohn in a plot to kill her mother in June, 2015.

Investigators uncovered Dee Dee had been able to convince people for years her daughter suffered from several conditions that made her wheel-chair bound.  The revelations had a significant impact on the plea agreement worked out between the prosecutor and Blanchard’s defense team.

10 years is the minimum sentence for 2nd degree murder under Missouri law. As a class A felony, it carries a 10-30 year sentence.

Gypsy Blanchard will have to serve at least 85% of her sentence before she is eligible for parole.

Jury selection for Godejohn is currently scheduled to start December 7, with testimony set to begin Monday, December 11.
