SPRINGFIELD (News-Leader) – It’s no joke – the largest CVS in the world is closing April 1, according to store employees.
Rhode Island-based CVS Caremark has more than 7,400 locations, and the one at 1735 S. Glenstone Ave. is the largest of them all, but it is closing next month.
Customers are being referred to use a separate CVS location at 1153 East Elm Street, according to signs posted at the store.
The Greene County Assessor’s Office lists the building at 74,500 square feet. CVS uses about 64,000 square feet of that, according to News-Leader archives. On the company’s website, under “new store location criteria,” the prototype for a typical free-standing store is listed at 12,900 feet.
