BREAKING: Three Teenagers Dead after Church Van Crashes into Tree

UPDATE: Three teenagers have died in this accident according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

They are a 16-year-old boy from Olathe, Kansas, 14-year-old girl from Lewisburg, Kansas and a 17-year-old girl from Stilwell, Kansas.

Names have not been released yet. Next of kin was notified.


BOLIVAR, Mo. - All 13 passengers of a church bus from Overland Park, Kan., were transported to local hospitals for care this morning, Aug. 10, 2018, after the vehicle went off  Mo. 13 about 5 miles north of Bolivar, overturned and struck a tree.

Sgt, John Leukenhoff with the Missouri Highway Patrol said six people were seriously injured. The other seven had minor injuries. No fatalities have been confirmed at this time, he said.

Wren Hall, communications director at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, said that facility accepted seven injured people from the crash, one of whom was seriously injured. The other six had minor injuries, she said, and all were still at the hospital being treated early this afternoon.

The other six people in the vehicle were taken to Springfield hospitals for treatment.

The accident occurred about 10:40 a.m., Leukenhoff said.
