OZARK, Mo.–Some big changes are underway on the Ozark square, as construction begins on an addition to the county courthouse.
Ground was broken this morning on the more than 3500 square-foot justice center annex.
Commissioners approved the main bid package for the $9.3 million project.
Presiding Commissioner Ray Weter says the upgrades are needed to adapt and accommodate the growing population.
He says people like living in Christian County because it’s a safe place.
“In order for them to continue to feel safe, we have to address the requirements of our infrastructure,” said Weter.
The jail is the next building the presiding commissioner says needs an upgrade.
Construction on the justice center annex is expected to be finished January 2019.
