Branson Renewing Contract for Storage of 50-Man Statue

BRANSON, Mo. - The City of Branson continues to pay storage fees to house a 50-man, World War Two-themed soldier statue purchased from a bank foreclosure in 2015.

This week aldermen approved first reading of a contract renewal with Hollister Properties, L.P., which houses the bronze statue and about 2-thousand archived file boxes from the city clerk's office.

Prior to second reading next month, Alderwoman Cris Bohinc asked the city's attorney to negotiate a monthly contract, versus a yearly contract, which is increasing to 19-thousand 800 dollars…

he city purchased the 50-man statue, titled "Storming the Beach," and two other statues for a total of 1-million dollars.

All three were previously owned by the Veterans Memorial Museum in Branson, but ended up in the ownership of Cornerstone Bank of York, Nebraska following an auction in 2013.
