BRANSON, Mo. — Branson police have stated a murder-suicide occurred at Branson Manor Apartments on October 5.

According to a press release, police say the preliminary investigation indicates the dispute was over rent. Police say Stephen Walsh, 77, shot the manager of Branson Manor Apartments, 47-year-old Whitney Davis.

Walsh was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The complex is working on counselors to assist in the coming days. Because of the initial reports of an active shooter, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Taney County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist. The Branson Fire Department and the Taney County Ambulance District also responded.

The Branson Police Department continues to investigate and will provide updates if information changes.
