SPRINGFIELD, Mo- Hello Movie Maniacs!

NEW this weekend …

RAMPAGE (NEW LINE CINEMA) - Dwayne Johnson stars as a primatologist shares and unshakable bond with an extraordinarily intelligent gorilla who has been in his care since birth.  But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster.   This will be Johnson and director, Brad Peyton's, THIRD film together … they previously worked together in 2015's SAN ANDREAS and 2012's JOURNEY 2:  THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND.

Making it's way to Springfield is Wes Anderson's ISLE OF DOGS (FOX SEARCHLIGHT PICTURES) - This is set in Japan and follows a boy's odyssey in search of his lost dog.  This has vocal stylings by some of the best:  Bryan Cranston, Frances McDormand, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel - even Yoko Ono just to name a few!  By the way, this marks Anderson's NINTH feature film and his EIGHTH collaboration with Murray.  And, this is the LONGEST stop-motion film of ALL time!

TOPS at the BOX = A QUIET PLACE!  WOW!  I am SO PROUD of normally funny-man John Krasinksi for creating this fantastic thriller about a family forced to live in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound.  This is incredible, original, engaging, thrilling … simply awesome!  Congrats on the $50-million opening weekend!  READY PLAYER ONE still strong at number 2!  And, BLOCKERS debuts at number three.  This comedy of 3 parents trying to keep their kids from doing anything wrong on prom night is really rather funny and a great escapism comedy in my humble opinion!

New on Blu-Ray this week is THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (20TH CENTURY FOX) - Hugh Jackman stars in this celebration about the birth of show business and tells of visionary, P.T. Barnum, who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.  I had a GREAT time watching this spectacle…it's a GREAT musical!

ALSO new on Blu-Ray … PHANTOM THREAD (FOCUS FEATURES) -  Set in 1950's London, a renowned dressmaker whose fastidious life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman.  Daniel Day-Lewis stars and is always wonderful.  This movie is sort of a quiet performance piece.
