Big Cedar, LLC recently acquired a former Days Inn near Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and the Wonders of Wildlife aquarium and museum.
The Greene County Assessor's office confirmed that the Springfield-based company recently purchased the 1.25-acre hotel site and an adjacent property at 607 W. Sunshine St., currently the 0.4-acre home of an automobile service center.
Collectively, the two parcels and their buildings were appraised at more than $2 million, assessor records show.
The News-Leader observed signs of construction work including interior renovations that match Big Cedar and Bass Pro's rustic design schemes.
A website, bassproanglersinn.com, is already live and includes details on the hotel's location and a toll-free number for room bookings.
The Angler's Inn name was registered by Big Cedar, LLC on Dec. 6, Missouri secretary of state records show.
Like Bass Pro and WOW, Big Cedar is owned by Springfield entrepreneur Johnny Morris, who ranks No. 441 on Forbes magazine's 2017 list of billionaires.
The News-Leader reached out to spokespeople for Johnny Morris' companies but did not immediately receive a response.
