RIDGEDALE, Mo.– A third party construction contractor was seriously injured after the truck he was operating fell into the infamous sinkhole at Top of the Rock just after 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.
24-year-old Jonathan Wynn, of Berryville, Ark., was backing up the 2008 Ford F-250 on a temporary construction path near the sinkhole when the truck plunged 100-150 feet into the sinkhole.
Wynn was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Wynn to a Springfield hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The massive sinkhole opened up at the golf course in May 2015, and crews have been working at the site for the last three years. In a 2016 news release, Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said he hoped to discover “a new natural wonder lying below.”
