HAZEN, Ark. -- A prayer vigil was held this morning at Hazen High School to remember the life of a 17-year-old football player.
City officials say Drake Jones was playing on an icy pond with three other friends when he fell in and drowned over the weekend.
The principal at Hazen High described Jones as an exceptional young man who will be severely missed.
Jones' death has even affected the Hazen's chief of police.
"Because as a father, I've been doing this 20 years, I've been in law enforcement 20 years, and let me tell you something, I think I would absolutely lose my mind," said Hazen Police Chief Bradley Taylor. "And I did Saturday."
Counselors were at the school today to speak with grieving students.
