NEW MADRID, Mo. — A 96-year-old veteran is making headlines after admitting he is cray cray for Tay Tay.
In a house in New Madrid, Cyrus Porter is king of this juke box. And his cd of choice. “Taylor Swift.”
But he’s know for something else too.
“I guess Taylor and a WWII Veteran,” admits Porter.
Reporter: “Those things don’t usually go together.”
“I know they don’t go together.. I know!” Porter laughs.
That fandom has drawn him to see the Grammy winning artist multiple times.
“Yea I’ve been to two concerts. Memphis and St Louis. Look what she does… she puts on a show no one else puts on.”
“He was excited,” says Porter family member Lynette Fowler. “He was like dancing to the beat…what he thought was the beat of the music and having a great time with it”
“Yea I just enjoy it. I’m getting old. I’m just enjoying everything,” Porter says.
Reporter: “Is there anything else besides Taylor Swift that you’re really into? Anything else that you’re a huge fan of?”
“No. No. No. No not – you know. No.”
And the World War II vet has used this connection to become closer with two of his more than 20 grandkids.
“A loving and caring and just a happy person,” Fowler says.
“I just enjoyed going to see ’em and her. I would as soon go see her right now as anybody!” Porter says.
And the 96-year-old’s hope is to see Swift in concert just one more time. “I just liked the way the way she did stuff.”
