DENVER — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has granted a temporary stay to an undocumented woman who had been seeking sanctuary at a Denver, Colorado church.
Ingrid Encalada Latorre was born in Peru.
She used false papers to work at an area nursing home.
The stay of deportation will grant her the ability to continue the court proceedings in that legal case.
That’s a due process right her lawyer says she was granted.
“And I feel particularly happy that I will be able to attend my court in July without the fear and the stress that I experienced two weeks ago when I went to court,” Latorre said.
Latorre has two U.S. Born children.
She said she is staying in sanctuary for her family’s sake.
