Woman Dies in Arkansas Hunting Accident

News

SEARCY COUNTY, Ark.(KARK) – A woman has died in an apparent hunting accident as she was mistaken for a deer.

The Searcy County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was 29-year-old Stephanie Bonine and is believed to have been shot.

The incident happened in a wooded area just west of Marshall, Arkansas.

Investigators said she was not wearing hunters orange and was mistaken for a deer.

Her brother said he has a hard time believing the story since authorities say the sun was out at the time.

“If it’s daylight you can tell the difference between a two-legged animal, a four-legged animal, and a two-legged person.”

Her sister, Kandi, is not quick to judge until an investigation is complete.

“It’s hard to say what exactly happened because we are hearing different stories everytime we turn around”

The Arkansas State Police and the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission are assisting with the investigation.
