MISSOURI – Last month’s Mega Millions jackpot had many people excited at the chance to win a record-breaking $1.5 billion prize. While the winning jackpot ticket was sold in South Carolina, the Missouri Lottery sold two $1 million tickets during the run.

Rodney Jensen of Reeds Spring picked his own numbers on the Mega Millions ticket he bought for the Oct. 19 drawing, matching all five white-ball numbers drawn. He said he enjoys playing the game a variety of ways, like using significant dates or patterns to choose the numbers or having them generated with Quick Pick. He likes to add the Megaplier to his ticket from time to time, as well.

“Hitting this is like fishing in the ocean, trying to catch the rarest fish. There is only so many numbers out there and the chance is small,” shared Jensen. “I am definitely going to put some money away.”

He purchased his $1 million ticket at Wagner’s One Stop, 9267 Highway 76, in Branson West. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The second $1 million Mega Millions prize was claimed by Camara Carey of Jasper. She purchased the ticket at Fast 4 U, 96 and D Highway in Oronogo, for the Oct. 23 drawing. This store will also receive a $1,000 bonus for selling a winning “Match 5” ticket.

During the jackpot run, which started in July, Missouri sold $35.9 million in Mega Millions tickets. As a result, approximately $13.5 million from sales will go to public education programs, and Missouri businesses earned more than $2.1 million.
