Weight Limit Restrictions Placed on Bridge over Billies Creek

News

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo- A weight limit has been placed by MoDOT on the bridge over Billies Creek in Lawrence County.

MoDOT says they put weight limits on the bridge that is part of Missouri Route 266 because of deterioration.

The bridge is 0.4 miles west of Route Z near Halltown.

Single unit tandem rear axle trucks will be limited to 15 tons. All other trucks will be limited to 25 tons.

The legal maximum weight limit for vehicles in Missouri is 40 tons.

The bridge was built in 1923 as part of old Route 66 and carries approximately 500 vehicles a day.

MoDOT is considering options for replacing the bridge.
