Showers/ storms today, winds pick up too —
Last round of showers and storms will move through today. We’ll have rain approaching from the west by mid-morning, clearing Springfield by 4 PM and the Ozarks completely by 7 PM.
Locally heavy rain and lightning will be the main threats with these storms, but an isolated strong/ severe storm with large hail/ damaging winds will be possible east of HWY 65.
Non-thunderstorm winds really howl today.
WIND ADVISORY in effect 10 AM to 1 AM — Southerly winds will be sustained 25-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Be careful next to trucks, take down/ tie down any loose objects!
Highs will soar on these southerly winds, pushing low to middle 60’s.
We’ll stay windy on the overnight tonight, lows stay mild near 50 degrees.
Gusty winds continue tomorrow on the backside of our low, out of the west with gusts to 40 mph. Highs will be cooler in the middle 50’s under a mix of sun and clouds.
Colder air settles on Friday with highs in the 40’s.
High pressure takes over on Saturday with lots of sunshine and gradually warming temperatures. HIghs will be in the middle and upper 50’s by Sunday through Tuesday of next week.
