SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Former city clerk of Walnut Grove, Missouri pleaded guilty to embezzling almost $70,000 through fake credit card transactions.
Cari Gillmore, 45, of Springfield, admitted to using credit cards issued to the city of Walnut Grove without permission of city officials and for purchases unrelated to the city, according to a news release from the Office of the U.S. Attorney.
The transactions totaled $27,308 between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2015, but eventually added up to $67,598 from January 2014 to June 13, 2016.
She could be facing a sentence of up to 15 years in prison without parole.
