SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Is your tree up and ornaments hung?  If not and you’re looking for something special you may want to check out Vintage Peddler on East Trafficway.

Photographer Tim Leimkuhler shows us all the unique vintage Christmas ornaments the thrift shop is selling right now.

“I think people want older ornaments, it reminds them of something their parents or grandparents had on a Christmas tree,” said Shelly Gordon, owner of Vintage Peddler. “Just something they remember from their childhood. For some people it’s just the thrill of the hunt, to find a new ornament, something different, something they haven’t seen before. This is a Santa blow mold.  We sell quite a few of these. This has a lot of vintage jewelry on it. Someone probably worked really hard on that.”

“For me personally, I would definitely shop vintage but that really depends on who you are shopping for,” said Kaitlyn McConnell, a shopper at Vintage Peddler. “I have some members of my family that just love getting something unique or one of a kind while others may prefer to get something new out of the box.”

“Part of it is the search for it and the uniqueness of the item I guess and the history of the people who kept such good care of it,” said Chelsea Corp, another Vintage Peddler shopper. “Treasure hunt.”

“I think for a lot of people it has to do with memories of childhood,” Gordon said. “Things that they remember from when they were little. That’s why I like them. My grandmother had one of these.”

“Oh, yeah.  Everybody needs a lamp,” said Kerry Martens, an antique seller. “I keep forgetting that I have a Red Ryder BB gun to put next to it and I need to bring one in. Everybody likes to get things from their childhood and that’s why you are seeing a lot of mid-century stuff going on now because people can relate with some of the stuff we see out here.”
