UPDATE: US Marshals arrested the fugitive involved in the stand-off on Chicago Street.
On April 19, the Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Leslie Stevens, the man involved, with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action. These charges come from an incident on April 5, where officials say Stevens and another suspect robbed and assaulted a man at gunpoint.
Investigators with the US Marshals Service-Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force began searching for Stevens on April 24, when they quickly found a possible address.
US Marshals and Springfield Police Officers surrounded the house on the 900 block of West Chicago. The Springfield Police-Special Response Team had to come to the scene when Stevens refused to come out of the residence.
After three hours, Stevens surrendered without further incident, according to the US Marshals.
The second suspect in the initial armed robbery and assault, Brandon Dubois, is still at large.
If you have information on his location you are asked to call the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office at 417-466-2131.
