UPDATE: Suspect in Deadly Officer Involved Shooting Identified


UPDATE: Springfield Police have identified the person involved in the deadly officer involved shooting last night.

Bryan A. Ryder, 38, of Springfield, was killed when he moved towards officers with a knife. One officer fired his weapon, hitting Ryder. Life saving procedures were conducted, but Ryder died at the scene.

The incident occured inside an apartment at 2752 S. Meadowbrook around 7:30 p.m. Authorties responded to that address when a 911 call was made reporting a female yelling for help.

When officers arrived they heard a female screaming for help inside the apartment. The Officers forced open the door and observed Ryder inside. Officers gave him verbal commands but he refused to comply. That is when he moved towards the officers and the shooting happened.

The female found inside the apartment had injuries believed to have been inflicted by the suspect. The female subject was transported to a local hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

No officers were injured in this incident.

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield Police have confirmed to OzarksFirst that a fatal officer-involved shooting took place at the 2700 block of S. Meadowbrook, just east of Kansas Expressway near the Sunset Apartments between Sunset and Battlefield.

Springfield Police said a man displayed a weapon and an officer shot and killed the man. A woman was involved and is being questioned by police.
