SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–KOLR10 has an update to a story we told you about on Monday regarding signs of squatting in a home in the Sequiota Park neighborhood.
The investors of that home tells KOLR10 the previous person who lived there left the place non-salvageable, rather than it being a case of squatting.
A crew was on scene with dumpsters cleaning in and around the home where investors, who don’t want to be identified, say they’ll most likely bulldoze the place in the future.
What was thought to be a vacant home occupied by squatters, is actually a home that according to investors, was left a mess by the previous owner.
It was in such a mess that dumpsters were needed for the garbage and the property will most likely be bulldozed instead of being used as a rental home.
The property owners say they just took possession of the home five days ago and plans were already in the works to clean the home.
Neighbor, Bruce Erb says he’s glad to know the clean up will help keep his neighborhood attractive.
“Now that they’re cleaning up, it just makes the neighborhood look better. We have a lot of people coming from all over town that just go on our walk path down here and to get to it, you have to go by these houses and it just looks better for everything all the way around for the park, this area, all the new investments down in the valley,” says Erb.
The vacant home is located on Barton Street off of South Lone Pine Avenue.
No word on what the land will be used for if the house is demolished.
