UPDATE (10:12 p.m.) — The Republic Police Department identified a person of interest related to the threats of violence, according to a press release from the police department.
In the police department’s Facebook post with the release the department said the investigation is ongoing. The police department will continue to process information.
REPUBLIC, Mo. — Extra security will be present tomorrow at Republic High School after the Republic School District had been notified of a “threat of violence to impact the school day.”
The Republic School District announced Sunday that the Republic Police Department and the district’s safety and security department launched a co-investigation about the threat and have made progress gathering details, according to a press release from the Republic School District.
The release said that threats of this nature against the district are not tolerated and are taken very seriously.
The district also said in the press release that they commend the students who reported the incident.
The release said that more details will be shared as they are gathered.
