SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – An arrest has been made in a Thursday morning assault that left one woman with facial injuries.
A search warrant was executed at the residence and a 23-year-old male from Springfield was arrested. He has been booked in Greene County Jail but has not been charged.
It has also been discovered that blunt force trauma may have been the cause of the injuries and not a gunshot wound. The woman is in critical but stable condition. The cause is still being determined and investigated.
The investigation is still ongoing.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A woman is in a Springfield hospital Thursday morning, recovering after being shot in the face, police say.
The assault happened at a house in the 1800 block of North Broadway just before 1:00 a.m.
Police Lt. Jennifer Charleston tells KOLR10 News a woman called police to report the incident. She says she, her mother and a third person were in the house before the assault.
The woman told police she left the house and when she returned, she found her mother with injuries to her face. The third person was no longer at the house, Charleston says.
Doctors at a Springfield hospital told investigators the woman had apparently been shot, with the wound entering one side of her face and exiting out the other. Her injuries are not believed to be critical, Charleston said.
No weapon was found in the house, and police are still investigating.
