CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — Two people have been injured in a plane crash in Christian County this afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff Lieutenant Jeff Lofton confirms that the small single-engine fixed wing plane crashed at a private airport near Route W and Galena Road.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported no fatalities but both the pilot – a flight student – and the passenger suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported by ground to a healthcare facility.
The White River Valley Electric Cooperative says the plane flew into a utility pole. The electric company reports 500 lost power because of the crash and is expecting to restore power by 7 p.m.
Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole announces the official cause of the crash is the pilot was attempting to land and flew too low, eventually hitting the light pole.
