Two Die from Arkansas Plane Crash

CLARK COUNTY, Ark.(KARK) – Two people lost their lives in a plane crash Thursday afternoon. The plane was traveling from Dallas, Texas to Franklin, North Carolina when it went down near the Gurdon Airport in Clark County.

According to the FlightAware website, the plane departed Dallas at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, and was scheduled to land in Franklin at 4:33 p.m. 

The plane is believed to have gone down around 1:40 p.m. 

Reports show the pilot said there was engine trouble, an emergency landing was declared, and communication with the aircraft was lost.

Contact was lost with the plane near the coordinates 33.8908 N, -93.0422 W — which is east of Gurdon, Arkansas. Its last tracked speed was 94 mph.

The aircraft is listed as a Cessna 400, fixed wing, single-engine, four-seater plane. According to the FAA registry, the plane is registered to JMK3 Lands LLC, based out of Charlotte, NC. The tail number is listed as N972JK.
